![]() Gary turned on the fire while I lit the candles and turned on some romantic music. We opened the wine, set the table, and dressed for the date. Not to mention having to test the chocolate by feeding it to each other. It is so much fun being in the kitchen together, cubing up the bread, veggies, and meat. Together we unpacked our supplies and got started on prepping for the evening. This really was the start of our date night. We put together a shopping list, grabbed the keys, each other and, out the door we went. Beer cheese for starters, Coq Au Vin for the main course, and a Flaming Chocolate Turtle with Rum to end the night. We will be doing fondue for all three courses. We were able to find what we wanted and change it to our personal tastes. Prep ahead of time is also definitely key to a fun night.Together we planned our menu. That way everyone still gets the great experience of fondue with a little less hassle. I will do a salad and make a main dish In the kitchen or ahead to serve at the proper time. However, I think that cheese and chocolate fondues are less work, and less chance of something not cooking properly, so I usually use those for a party. Now, with all that being said, I think fondue can be great fun for a party just remember to watch oil/ broth temperatures. Also, do not use the fondue fork to eat with in case of contamination. If you don’t have an electric fondue pot you can heat them on a stove and then very carefully transfer them to the fondue pot. Oil based fondues need to be kept at 375F and broths need to be boiled and then kept at a simmer. I would suggest an oil based fondue instead of a broth based, especially if you are planning on battering your shrimp. Yes, you can fondue shrimp and steak in the same pot. (*Disclaimer for informational purpose only. Add the Worcestershire sauce and the cracked black pepper. Step 4: Add Flour and stir until dissolved. Step 3: Add the mustard powder and then add the cheeses a little at a time while stirring. Step 2: Add the garlic and let simmer for a minute. Step 1: Bring the beer to a simmer in the electric fondue pot. I had to guess on the measurements while watching the video, but here is another version of the same recipe if you would like to try it.
