![]() Rika: There were times when I was having so much fun, I barely felt time passing. The tragedies that tortured me, the series of mysterious murders, they were brought about by people, plotting and clashing with one another. Teen Rika: I wanted to get out of this hick town, enroll at a fancy, wonderful school, and live a sophisticated life. Rika: Yes, that’s why the moment I was released from this curse… Rika: Why did I begin to hate Hinamizawa in the first place? As a personal preference I like to think of the lyrics as sung by the culprit of the game. The visual shows us also the places relevant in the story as well as the fragment of Oyashiro-sama’s sword and the weapons the characters used. The idea she ultimately reaches the shrine and then we see mirrored in her eye two hands moving to grab her is also interesting. The scene of Rika escaping feels like a callback to the opening of “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai” but I liked how this time she’s also running for an uphill road and seems even more desperate of escaping. I also liked the creepy glimpse of Eua, who became fully visible only from episode 21 onward. ![]() I like the characters’ expressions that seem a mix between depressed and worn out. The opening is visually good, it introduces the characters and set an unsettling mood with the camera waving as it moves other the characters, as if to hint their inner turmoils while there are noise effects and a colouring that reminds old movies. Overall,i think writing wise you are in good hands for Silent Hill F and hope this post doesn't age badly.Īlthough I miss Shimamiya Eiko’s songs, Ayane’s also are pretty nice. He doesn't hold back, the representation of cycle of abuse in umineko, the mental downfall of Higurashi characters, the aspect of bullying in higanbana can get pretty hard for readers to stomach, I personally have to stop my reading of Higurashi chapter 3 for how it represented domestic abuse and how no is being able to help. He doesn't spoon feed his readers,Umineko episode 8 was a bit controversial in the Japanese fandom for how vague it was in some of his answers(source is people on discord told me,sorry) but thats what made umineko a really great experience, how he played with mystery tropes and inviting the readers to solve the puzzle for themselves. Representation, probably most of Higurashi and Umineko readers will confirm that both Maria and Rena are somewhere in the autism spectrum and he has a background or writing lgbtq characters(most popular a couple of evil lesbians in umineko) Ryukishi has a background as a social worker and has seen some stuff when it comes to traumatic experiences specially children(see Higurashi and umineko for domestic violence and Higanbana for bullying and suicide ideation) which I think his perspective might work for different arcs in a SH game. Now,why I think Ryukishi might be a fit writer for silent hill(vague spoilers for some of his works): Higurashi and Umineko(the second one in the wtc series) are mysteries mainly and then have horror elements, they have a heavy emphasis on relationships, their sins and how it affects them related to the mistery and the horror aspect(sound familiar?).
